Job Description:
As a Bakery Assistant at Dawson City General Store Ltd, you will play a crucial role in the bakery department, ensuring the smooth operation of bakery activities and providing exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Service: Assist customers by bagging, boxing, or parceling their purchases for shipment or delivery. Provide helpful and friendly service to ensure a positive shopping experience.
- Stock Management: Retrieve items from shelves or the stockroom for customers, and ensure shelves and display areas are stocked and organized. Price items accurately using stamps or stickers.
- Bakery Duties: Frost and decorate cakes and other baked goods. Keep the bakery area clean and orderly by performing general cleaning duties such as sweeping and mopping floors. Handle order picking efficiently.
- Physical Demands: Be prepared to work in a physically demanding environment. This includes standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, and kneeling. You will also be handling heavy loads, up to 50 lbs.
Qualifications:
- Education: A secondary (high) school graduation certificate or GED is required.
- Experience: Candidates should have between 7 months to less than 1 year of relevant experience, or an equivalent background in baking or related activities.
- Skills: A strong understanding of baking techniques and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced setting are essential. Efficient interpersonal skills and excellent oral communication are necessary for effective customer interaction. Flexibility, reliability, and the ability to work well in a team are also important.
