Overview
Ridgetop Dental is seeking a Remote Dental Insurance Claim Specialist to manage the complete dental insurance claims process for its three locations in Sterling, Reston, and Alexandria. This role involves submitting, following up on, and resubmitting claims, along with handling patient invoicing and maintaining accurate patient account information. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities to interact with insurance companies, patients, and the dental team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Submit Dental Insurance Claims:
- Prepare and submit insurance claims for dental services provided at Ridgetop Dental locations.
- Ensure all claims are accurate, complete, and comply with insurance guidelines.
2. Follow Up on Insurance Claims:
- Monitor submitted claims and follow up to ensure timely payments from insurance companies.
- Resolve discrepancies, denials, or delays in payment by communicating with insurance providers.
3. Invoicing Patients:
- Generate and send invoices for balances not covered by insurance to patients.
- Address patient inquiries regarding their statements and explain charges clearly.
4. Monitor Patient Accounts:
- Regularly review patient accounts to identify outstanding balances or credits.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate accounts, taking necessary actions to resolve discrepancies.
5. Account Auditing:
- Conduct routine audits of patient accounts to ensure accurate billing and claim submissions.
- Correct errors in billing processes, claims, or payments to uphold account integrity.
6. Resubmitting Claims:
- Resubmit claims as needed due to denials, errors, or requests for additional information.
- Track the status of resubmitted claims to ensure timely resolution and payment.
7. Coordination with Dental Team:
- Collaborate with dentists, hygienists, and administrative staff to ensure accurate documentation and coding for procedures.
- Provide updates on claim statuses, patient balances, and necessary communications with patients.
8. Maintaining Compliance:
- Stay informed about dental insurance regulations, policies, and billing practices.
- Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with relevant laws and company policies.
9. Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare monthly reports on claim statuses, outstanding balances, and payment trends.
- Analyze data to identify areas for improvement in the claims process and patient account management.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in dental insurance billing, claims processing, or a related role.
- Strong understanding of dental insurance plans, terminology, and claim procedures.
- Proficiency in dental practice management software (experience with Open Dental is a plus) and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with patients, insurance companies, and team members.
- Ability to work independently while also being a part of a remote team.
- Must have a reliable internet connection and a quiet, dedicated workspace.

Salary Information
The pay for this position ranges from $20.00 to $26.00 per hour, with expected hours of 40 per week.
