Company Overview:
Saskatchewan Distance Learning Centre (Sask DLC) is seeking a dedicated Grade 10 Photography and Drafting Teacher for a full-time, temporary position. Based in Kenaston, Saskatchewan, with regional campuses across the province, Sask DLC is a newly established Treasury Board Crown Corporation committed to delivering high-quality online education. This role will not involve remote or work-from-home options.

Job Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Photography and Drafting courses to students in Grades 10, 11, and 12, following the Saskatchewan Curriculum. The role will be assigned to one of Sask DLC’s regional campuses based on the principal residence of the selected candidate. The position starts as soon as possible and concludes on January 30, 2025, with a possibility of extension based on student enrolment for term two.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Course Instruction: Deliver course content in Photography and Drafting as per the Saskatchewan Curriculum. Ensure that teaching methods are innovative and tailored to meet student needs and interests.
  • Student Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for students in an online environment. Foster meaningful interactions with students and parents to support educational progress.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Provide clear, effective feedback on student progress. Use current instruction and assessment practices to evaluate and enhance student learning outcomes.
  • Collaboration: Work with colleagues on course development and share best practices for online teaching. Collaborate on curriculum outcomes and indicators to align with educational standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience: Experience in Visual Arts, Practical and Applied Arts, or Creative Arts education is preferred. Familiarity with online teaching or program supervision is an asset.
  • Skills: Strong time management and organizational abilities are crucial. Candidates should demonstrate innovation, creativity, and effective communication skills. Experience with technologies such as Clevr, Moodle, MySchoolSask, and online communication software is beneficial.
  • Personal Attributes: The ideal candidate will exhibit student-centered decision-making, flexibility, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively. A commitment to fostering a supportive online learning environment is essential.
