Job Details

  • Position Type: Part-time, with multiple casual positions available
  • Shifts: Weekend availability required, as the hostel operates 24/7
  • Responsibilities: Maintain cleanliness of the facility, provide support to clients and families, and facilitate access to health care services and community resources.

WNHAC delivers a range of primary health care options, emphasizing prevention, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. Our team integrates both traditional Indigenous practices and contemporary models of care, promoting holistic health and community development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the hostel environment is clean and welcoming for clients and families.
  • Assist clients in crisis situations and guide them to appropriate resources.
  • Support Indigenous traditional practices, including the burning of sacred medicines.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (OSSD) is required.
  • Experience: Previous work in healthcare is an asset.
  • Cultural Understanding: Strong awareness of Indigenous cultures, values, and perspectives. Familiarity with Anishinaabemowin is a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, alongside proficiency in computer usage.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to engage with a diverse range of individuals effectively.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work shifts, including weekends.
  • Background Check: Current criminal/vulnerable person’s records check is mandatory.
  • Professional Development: Commitment to ongoing training and professional growth relevant to the role.
  • Positive Attitude: Capacity to act as a healthy lifestyle role model is essential.
