Position Overview:
Company 3/Method Studios is looking for a skilled Picture Finishing Assistant to join our team in Toronto, ON. This full-time role offers an hourly wage ranging from $23 to $27 and involves working from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM EST. The successful candidate will support the colourist and editor in completing episodic and feature projects, ensuring high-quality outcomes from ingest to delivery. This role includes responsibilities such as assisting with colour support, editorial support, and quality assurance, while also adapting to new technologies and workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Colour Support: Assist with the colour and display systems to enhance the efficiency and productivity of colourists during sessions. Tasks include colour tracing, VFX inserts, LUT application, and handling various colour spaces (P3DCI, P3D65, XYZ, etc.).
- Editorial Support: Support finishing editors by locating and consolidating media, managing renders, preparing master deliverables, and addressing QC fixes.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues to obtain job instructions and provide solutions to meet project deadlines. Document workflows and assist in training new hires.
- Resource Management: Operate DaVinci Resolve or similar applications, Sony X300, Barco 4K/2K, and video routers to support resource needs.
- Quality Assurance: Maintain attention to detail with application and equipment settings, thoroughly checking all work for errors before distribution.
- New Technology Support: Stay current with evolving technical applications and trends, ensuring proficiency with the company’s workflow.
- Customer Service: Manage client-supervised sessions, including screenings, VFX reviews, colour-correction, and editorial reviews as directed by colourists, editors, or production management.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Prior experience in the media or post-production industry is preferred, with hands-on operator experience being advantageous.
- Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Knowledge of Adobe Premiere, OSD/Transkoder, and Avid is a plus.
- Adaptability: Ability to learn new material quickly in a fast-paced, technical environment. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and variable shifts as needed.
- Education: No specific educational requirements are mentioned, but relevant experience and a willingness to learn are crucial.
Work Schedule:
